Alex Perloff Sextet

New York based multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, producer, Alex Perloff, creates music that is easier to define by the undercurrent of emotions: melancholy, existential longing, tender passion, and uncertainty of the heart. It pulls truths both dark and light from the abstract chaos of the inner landscape. For the self-taught musician, blending genre is a virtue, and experimentation is a compulsion. Perloff’s early forays into songwriting were informed by an eclectic mix of influences. The output was like music through a kaleidoscope: synth loops and programmed rhythms were layered with esoteric samples and chopped, moody melodies. Perloff melded organic soundscapes to digital ones, and as his knowledge of electric guitar and keyboard grew, his music evolved from shards of electronic experimentation into shimmering streams of indie, pop, and jazz. With the release of his debut album, Morning Floor, Perloff established a singular and cohesive sound. Surrounded by pedals and synths, he transforms his voice and guitar into a one man wall of sound and delivers soft and ethereal melodies.
