Alfonso Velez

Alfonso Velez has become a closely guarded secret among audiences seeking his unique form of songcraft and lyricism.

Velez’s music is known in cities like New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Montreal and Dublin as well as Washington, D.C., where he’s performed for crowds of 1,500 seats or more, having spent his musically formative years in post-punk bands like Monopoli and collaborations with members of Fugazi, Calexico, Antibalas, and New York City’s The Yells. He has spent most his life traveling the globe and has lived in Buenos Aires and Mexico City — and spent part of his childhood in Moscow in the early 90’s.

For the last 4 years Alfonso Velez has played a Sunday night residency at The Bell, Book and Candle in New York City’s West Village. A loyal and growing audience attends his concerts weekly.
