Andrew Paul
Andrew Paul Neesley is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and performer known primarily for his artistry and dexterity as a trumpet player. He’s played and recorded with a wide variety of iconic artists, from Lady Gaga and the Roots to James Taylor and Chris Botti, and in a diverse mix of bands, including NYC favorite Jesus On The Mainline and Nees and Vos with Chris Vos of The Record Company. After a successful career performing extensively and contributing to various GRAMMY-nominated albums, Andrew spent 2020’s quarantine honing his guitar skills and developing new music for his solo debut as Andrew Paul.
Writing primarily on guitar for the first time, Andrew Paul reveals a unique vulnerability that feels both idiosyncratic and profound. The casual but compelling series of pared-down tracks is driven by dynamic melodies that highlight Andrew’s ability to build emotionally stirring, distinct music with little beyond his voice and his guitar. Classic yet raw, the style falls somewhere between heartland soul, indie rock, and good, old-fashioned rock-and-roll—with a bit of groove thrown in the mix. Paired with Andrew’s earthy vocals, the lyrics feature candid narratives of personal experience: love songs for his partner, stories about family and friends. “It’s a little jammy, a little loud. It’s very much a portrait of where I am today as a musician and as a human…warts and all.”
