Bryan Vargas

Bryan Vargas is the unofficial guitarist for New York’s “Global Music”community. He was the OG guitarist for Antibalas. He plays guitar and co-leads Chop & Quench AKA The Fela! Band. He’s played and recorded with Pistolera, Falu, Zemog el Gallo Bueno, Sanda Weigl, Arturo O’Farrill, Lionel Loueke, Miramar, the Michael Kammers Groove Orchestra, Stretch & Bobbito & the M19s, Groove Collective, and so many more. His song “As Warm As The Sun,” was featured in Spike Lee’s Netflix series, “She’s Gotta Have It.” His debut record was called one of the year’s Ten Best of 2004 by WFMU & WBEZ. He co-wrote the Grammy nominated album Falu’s Bazaar. Most recently, he was featured on the "Que Bonita Bandera" remake by Stretch & Bobbito & the M19s band which also featured Latin music legends Eddie Palmieri & Danny Rivera. Tonight he will be debuting new music with the help of the BV3 - drummer Genji Sirasi (Groove Collective) and bassist Derek Nievergelt (Terence Blanchard).
