Claudia Valentina
Singer, dancer and jarana player, Claudia is the daughter of Mexican and Jamaican immigrants. She has recorded/toured the US/Mexico as lead singer with Afro-Mexican band Jarana Beat, and Latin Grammy Award winning/Grammy nominated all female mariachi band, Flor de Toloache. Last Spring she closed the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum, and has toured Andalucía as a soloist, and has performed at venues such as Joe’s Pub, Carnegie Hall and the Shanghai Expo. She was also co-founder, outreach director, dancer and teacher with Calpulli Mexican Dance Company.
Claudia has studied voice, music and dance with renowned teachers in their own right, such as Gema Corredera, ILana Martin, Barbara Maier Gustern, Rubí Oseguera, Sonia Olla & Ismael Fernández, Torombo Suárez, Claudio Vega, Andrés Flores among others. She is currently studying with renowned vocal coach Mr. Don Lawrence, and working on her first solo album with Latin Grammy award winning producer and percussionist, Felipe Fournier.
