Darlin!

Johnny Darlin is the alter-ego of Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and pop musician Michael Doshier. Growing up queer in the conservative suburbs of Arkansas, Michael took refuge in expressing his feelings through his writing, singing, and piano. He moved to New York at eighteen with a handful of songs, and immediately started ironing out solo material which would eventually form the foundation of Johnny Darlin.

Johnny’s music reckons with reconciling spirituality and sexuality, the difficulty of cementing a sense of self-acceptance, and finding love and beauty in the world along the way. With a background in storytelling and screenwriting, and influences ranging from David Bowie to Elton John to Roy Orbison to Lana Del Rey, his music aims to take on a cinematic bent, both sonically and visually, with each song’s accompanying DIY music videos he makes with his iPhone camera. Johnny has released four EPs - Mr. Monogamy (2014), Hump Daze (2016), Push (2017), and Way With Words (2018). In addition to performing regularly around New York City, he has performed sold-out and critically acclaimed residencies as part of the New York and Prague Fringe Festivals, with his multimedia cabaret shows "In the Closet" and "Songs About Boys." His main collaborators include musicians Francis Steakknife, Tommy Cormier, Idan Altman, and Pincha Jones; and choreographer Pia Vinson.

He would be honored to hear from you and have you along for the ride.
