Dave Meder

Pianist, composer and educator Dave Meder is quickly becoming one of the prominent artists of his generation, known for a panoramic, genre-bending approach that has earned him slots in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition and the American Pianists Awards. He has performed in some of New York’s most hallowed rooms, including several headlining stands at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, and internationally at the Tokyo Jazz Festival, Torino Jazz Festival, and others. In 2013, Meder won the esteemed Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition. His debut album, Passage (Outside In Music, 2019), is a dynamically interactive piano-trio outing boasting appearances by the generation-defining saxophonists Chris Potter and Miguel Zenón.

Meder is also a skilled composer-arranger, having earned an ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award, the FirstMusic Commission of the New York Youth Symphony, and a slot in the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop. As the Assistant Professor of Jazz Piano at the University of North Texas, he is currently the youngest instructor employed in one of the nation’s most renowned music programs.

Scott Tixier

Scott Tixier is a Brooklyn-based jazz violinist and composer known for his work with Stevie Wonder, Kenny Barron, Chris Potter, Anthony Braxton, John Legend, Elton John and Roger Waters. Born in a small town near Paris in 1986, Tixier grew up in an artistic family with a mother who is a dance teacher and pianist, a father who is an actor. His twin brother, Tony Tixier who is a jazz pianist. Tixier began taking violin lessons at age five.

Grammy Award winning bassist Marcus Miller says that Tixier "has made an international name for himself. I heard him in France and was immediately struck by his individuality and his sound." Guitarist Pat Metheny says, "[Scott] has found a place for himself within the elite community of New York jazz musicians, no small feat." In an interview with Jazz Mag, violinist Mark Feldman called Scott "really up-and-coming and very talented." Jean-Luc Ponty said "I have heard Scott's recordings, seen his live performances and I think that he stands above the crowd of current jazz violinists around the world."

Tixier has been appearing on TV shows such as The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on NBC, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as well as the previous format with David Letterman, The Late Night with Seth Meyers. Tixier performed the violin solo for John Wick (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) on Evil Man Blues and was also featured in the scores for Glory (From the Motion Picture Selma)
