DeEtta Jain
DeEtta Jain (pron. dee-yetta jane) is a Denver based creator whose life, art, and general message are all rooted firmly in the non-linear. From where she stands, there are no straight lines. Born and raised in a quaint town that seemed to limit her, Jain eventually escaped by attending an arts high school in Denver, where she was introduced to music production and collaboration with other mediums. Her decade of dance training, her time spent on film sets, and her bold curiosity have influenced the music undoubtedly. Jain’s sound subtly shifts with each release and each collaborator, making it nearly impossible to nail down any one regional influence. You can anticipate a genre and style that range from electro-pop, lofi, alternative indie, ethereal pop, and experimental electronic soundscapes. Though it's hard to make any concrete comparisons, people generally compare her to the likes of Sylvan Esso, Little Dragon, Purity Ring, and POLIÇA.
In 2021, Jain released a conceptual and visual EP titled "Boys to Men," which explored tense topics such as suicide ideation, unleashing oneself, the parameters of gender, and the ironic nature of American society. The EP was accompanied by three videos, a 40-page zine, and two local events. Collaboration is the sweet spot for Jain, who feels the strongest and most inspired when surrounded by others and their ideas.
