Eric Stern is a jazz pianist, composer, and arranger who currently studies with Martin Bejerano and Shelly Berg at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York, studying with Jacob Sacks, Arturo O’Farrill, and Zack O’Farrill through various New York City arts programs, as well as getting to work with artists such as Dariusz Terefenko and Rodney Whitaker through various summer jazz academies.Stern is a winner of the Bösendorfer prize at the American Jazz Pianist Competition, which took place on May 9th, 2022. Stern was chosen from five finalists by judges Bill Mays, Addison Frei, and Elio Villafranca. This came just a few weeks after releasing his debut album, Familiar Colors, on all streaming platforms.

The Eric Stern Quartet and Trio, formed in Miami in 2020, play the music of Stern himself, as well as the compositions of the other band members- Luca Stine on trumpet, Blake Aldridge on bass, and Henry Mohr on drums- while also exploring the classic repertoire of jazz, mainly referring to greats such as Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Charlie Parker, Chick Corea, and many others.Additionally, Stern is a formidable accompanist, having played alongside and worked with many remarkable musicians and instructors, such as Dafnis Prieto, John Daversa, Kate Reid, Seneca Black, Jim Seeley, John Hart, John Yarling, David Chiverton, David Anderson, and many others. From playing contemporary latin jazz (Prieto) to getting his feet wet with avant-garde music (Yarling), to working with the award-winning Extensions jazz vocal ensemble (Reid), Stern has become proficient at playing a variety of styles and genres of jazz and music in general.
