Ethan Lipton & his Orchestra

WEBSITE

Ethan Lipton & his Orchestra have been playing an edgy brand of jazz/folk/alternative nosh with a chewy singer-songwriter center since 2005. With melancholy wit and a cockeyed worldview, Lipton and his bandmates — Eben Levy (guitar), Ian Riggs (bass), and Vito Dieterle (sax) — deliver original songs steeped in mixed-message sincerity and soul.

Dubbed the city’s “Best Lounge Act” by New York Magazine, the band’s theatrical song-cycles “No Place to Go” (Obie Award) and “The Outer Space” (Lortel nom.) were produced by the Public Theater in Joe’s Pub and directed by Leigh Silverman. The band has toured music and theater venues in the U.S. and Europe, including Celebrate Brooklyn, SF Jazz, All Tomorrow’s Parties, the Gate in London, the Troubadour, Mass MoCA, Barbes, and Theatre de La Ville, and been featured on NPR and in "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” Lipton was a 2020 Guggenheim Fellow, and his produced plays include “Tumacho,” “Luther,” and “Red-Handed Otter.”

This will be the band’s first live show since hector was a pup.
