Evan Amoroso
Evan Amoroso is a trombonist, composer, arranger, and educator currently residing in
New York City. Throughout his career, he has shared the stage with many acclaimed
artists, such as Greg Gisbert, Wayne Escoffery, Robin Eubanks, Warren Wolf, Conrad
Herwig, John D’Earth, and Jon Faddis. Hailing from Washington, DC, Evan began his
music education in the classical tradition, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Bass
Trombone Performance from James Madison University in 2020. While in college, he was
absorbed into the world of improvised music, and became deeply interested in the role of
the bass trombone as an improviser’s instrument. With the guidance and encouragement
of his mentors, Evan moved to New York City to pursue a career in jazz. He is a recent
graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with David Taylor and Ryan
Keberle, earning a Master’s Degree in Jazz Trombone Performance. To this day, he
remains a passionate advocate for the bass trombone as an improvisational voice and an
instrument of importance in the jazz idiom.
The Evan Amoroso Quintet is comprised of Evan Amoroso on trombone, Brandon Choi
on trumpet, Vid Jamnik on vibraphone, Shimon Gambourg on electric bass, and Quinton
Cain on drums.
