Generation W
On 3rd October, the groundbreaking British based platform Generation W is taking over Rockwood Music Hall in New York City to present 3 female led artists in the city of New York that they have chosen as three of the most authentic voices in the city.
Generation W started in 2019 in the UK, originally as a book featuring 100 British women writing about living through 100 years since women began to receive the vote in the UK, women writing in the original book include Olympic champions, Dames, musicians who have sold over 50 million record and many more. The platform has since grown to collaborate in over 20 countries, working online with leading artists in India, South Africa, China, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Egypt, Sweden and many, many more, and this year launching a live music show at a sold out show at legendary London venue The Troubadour where Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepellin, Adele, Ed Sheeran and many more made their name at, and where the legendary LA venue The Troubadour is named after. Generation W live music shows celebrate intimacy and authenticity of musicians playing uncensored to a community of audiences who value artists for the live experience.
Tuesday 3rd October is Generation W's debut live music show in the USA and the first time in New York City, though GW's founding production company Urban Kingdom has previously produced music videos with rap artists Method Man and Ruff Ryders in New York City, and even produced the music video to British musician Hannah Williams & The Affirmation's song 'Late Nights & Heartbreak' that Jay-Z sampled on the title track to his last album 4.44 (Hannah also writes exclusively in the original Generation W book), as well as producing the world's first all female cast documentary film in the music industry which featured Motown legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Martha Reeves (Dancing In The Street, Nowhere to Run, Heatwave), and the first ever interview with Beyonce 'Freedom' and 'Runnin' songwriter Carla-Marie Williams.
We invite you down to join us on Tuesday 3rd October to celebrate another night of musical history at Rockwood music hall where we can't wait to bring live music performances from women led artists from New York City we believe will lead a charge that will put New York City further on the global map as well as help introduce this powerful musical and cultural movement to the USA and celebrate New York City all over the world as one of the most inspiring cities in the world to us at Generation W.
