Heather Brave
Heather Brave is a singer and songwriter who grew up in New Jersey. At 3 years old, she became obsessed with The Wizard of Oz, and infatuated with the process of telling stories. She proudly wore the gingham Dorothy dress and belted “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” in the kitchen daily. Unafraid and eager to perform, Heather began acting in theater, film, and TV in NYC by kindergarten, with credits including “Law & Order: SVU,” and the film adaptation of “Jeremy Fink & The Meaning of Life.”
During middle school, with the help of the Pandora app, she delved into a new scene, discovering artists like Ingrid Michaelson and Vampire Weekend. Her perspective on the scope of music completely transformed. She learned guitar on her purple guitar named Daisy Rock and started writing songs that united the pop she grew up listening to (mostly Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus) with the depth and wit of alternative pop and singer-songwriters.
Since then, she has been writing music in NY, LA, and Nashville. She has performed at Rockwood Music Hall, Soho House, The Standard, Hotel Cafe, and The Bitter End. Heather has released several singles including “Like a Wave,” a bright sensuous banger, which debuted at #32 on the Billboard Indicator Chart. Continuing her passion for the intricacies of colorful and hard-hitting lyrics, Heather graduated from Columbia University with a major in English (and she finds a way to bring the nuance of Virginia Woolf and Renaissance Literature into the pop world). Heather is currently probably on the Upper West Side eating sushi take out, planning her next release which she describes as “straight-forward and satisfying.”
