Jennie Thomas
Jennie is a New York City singer-songwriter whose music harkens back to another era with haunting, transcendent melodies and lyricism, blending floating folk with subtle pop.
Amidst the Pandemic in 2020, Jennie Thomas emerged as an independent artist with the release of her first single "I Can't Breathe", a song written for the Black Lives Matter movement. Jennie set herself apart as a serious music artist in 2021 opening for the international jazz band Angwa in a globally streamed, exclusive rooftop concert in Manhattan. She has since performed with Angwa at Rockwood for their album release show and as a solo artist at performance venues in Queens.
This show celebrates the release of her self-titled EP, recorded and mixed at Germano Studios, The Hit Factory NYC. The EP covers a wide range in both genre and storytelling. The story takes you on an emotional journey from young, bright-eyed romance (with upbeat African jazz), to heartbreak and grief (legato strings), to wistful longing (rock/pop), and back again into a contemplative mood (spacey pop) where both grief and love are held together.
