Brooklyn-based, indie rock songwriter and powerhouse vocalist, Jennifer Silva, summons spirits and commands the audience with her evocative lyrics and dynamic stage presence. Silva channels a dark, moody energy with sensual, confident storytelling. She releases her first single, Landline” from her highly anticipated third album “Purgatory Road” tonight at Rockwood and will preview songs from the record. Silva also brings selections from her second record, “Bluest Sky, Darkest Earth” (2018) to the stage, including catchy, fan favorite “Command Z.”
A gifted artist and natural performer – similar to Elle King, Grace Potter, Brittany Howard and Stevie Nicks – Silva captivates audiences with her inescapable passion and fiery delivery. Her live shows leave attendees completely “transfixed by her soulful voice, and fun personality” (Chimera Magazine) with “lyrics that explore universal and very human paradoxes - particularly the saint and sinner within all of us” (The Joy of Violent Movement).
Silva’s new album, “Purgatory Road” features ten songs about complicated, strong, yet flawed characters. Her lyrics showcase a vulnerability and connection to the deep, dark places that live somewhere in us all. Silva mentors listeners by reflecting on her mistakes and puts the audience under a musical spell. She welcomes the ghosts that linger in our lives and continue to haunt us.
“Purgatory Road” was recorded at Vinegar Hill Sound with Producer and Engineer Reed Black. PRE-SAVE her record now on all major music platforms, including Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Music and be the first to listen after it drops on November 13. Follow her on Instagram @sheissilva.
