Joseph and the Sevier Dudes
Joseph and The Sevier Dudes are an NYC based Alt Folk/Outsider Country trio comprised of: Joseph Waya the sole singer-songwriter for the project on guitar/vocals, raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota with a B.A. in Comparative Literature and worked as a Latin teacher in Jamaica, Queens; the Brazilian percussionist, Leo Guerra on cajon/washboard heavily influenced by bossa nova and early swing; and PJ LaMariana on the Mandolin/Electric Mandolin, a Manhattan electric blues staple who holds residencies at the Bitter End, The 11th Street Bar, and Pete's Candy Store. In the self-taught and self--cultivated spirit of Art brut, Lou Reed, and Daniel Johnston the band offers raw unfiltered American songwriting with elements of Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, west coast swing, bossa nova, new grass, gypsy jazz, and electric folk-blues in a genre they term NYC Outsider Country. The band released the Demos EP through Distrokid on Spotify April of 2022 and recorded Vinyl with Leesta Vall in October 2022. The Band is currently gearing up to record their first full length album. They are in touch with label representatives from Universal and several independent labels based out of NYC and Mexico City; the final decision to be announced Spring 2023.
