Julia Easterlin
Julia Easterlin is an American musician and songwriter whose work has been recognized by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, the GRAMMY Foundation, the TED Organization, and, through an unexpected series of events, T-Pain.
After training as a dancer in Georgia, she switched gear in her last year of school to study music in Boston. She eventually landed in New York City by way of North Carolina and New Zealand. Easterlin alternately accompanies herself on baritone ukulele and with live vocal loops, drawing from influences like UK electronic artist Imogen Heap, Tuareg ensemble Tinariwen, and Benjamin Britten's choral works.
She has recorded and performed with internationally renowned artists, including UK musician Jacob Collier, American choreographer Bill T. Jones, Oscar-winning film scorer Kris Bowers, and vocalist Bobby McFerrin.
In 2015, she released a collaborative album with Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Touré to critical acclaim. Her first full-length solo album was released in 2017 under the moniker HITE.
Easterlin is currently writing new songs for a solo EP to be released in 2023. She lives in Brooklyn with her partner, her cat and her tortoise.
