Kara Mckee
Described as having “smart and cool” musicality by EGOT award winner John Legend, Kara McKee’s soulful voice has been heard in a range of settings from sold out shows at renowned Club Passim to audiences of dignitaries including FLOTUS Michelle Obama.
Kara is a Rhode Island based singer-songwriter who delivers heartfelt stories punctuated with clear and dynamic vocals, drawing on influences ranging from Lori McKenna to Yola to every one of the Traveling Wilburys.
In 2022 Kara made her television debut on NBC’s The Voice, earning a coveted spot on Team Legend with her rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock”. Blake Shelton remarked that Kara “tore down a wall” by winning John Legend over with her folk rock / Americana style.
Kara’s success on The Voice comes on the heels of six years of work with her family band, Rosemere Road. Specializing in folksy-sad-songs-in-three-part-harmony, the trio have packed rooms across the northeast and released several tracks along the way (“Winter Coat”, “January Song”).
In December 2022 Kara received grant funding from Club Passim’s Iguana Fund to finance her debut solo EP (anticipated release Summer 2023). You can find Kara playing live in her home state of Rhode Island, her old stomping grounds in Boston, MA, and her new home away from home, Nashville, TN.
