Kerry Hart

L.A.-based singer/songwriter Kerry Hart has a voice like no other: an instrument at turns elegantly controlled and utterly unbridled, made all the more mesmerizing by her lavishly detailed and largely acoustic sound. With her songwriting inspired by playwrights like Tennessee Williams and Lanford Wilson, pairing at times with washes of emotion, other times soaked in a quiet agony, Hart crafts her lyrics to reveal hard-won insight, enveloping that wisdom in her endlessly warm delivery.

Kerry Hart has been singing since she could talk. Asked where the songs come from and she will point up “The songs are alive and I am lucky when my ears, my heart and my voice catch them as they pass through.” Each song, a scene, a place, a play, a landscape. Love of life, of nature and love stories proliferate her work.

Hart’s comfortable stage presence stems from years of passionate dedication to her craft. While working in philanthropy and startups for over a decade, she learned to play guitar and at one point wrote a song a week for a whole year—all while undoing her college training as an opera singer and uncovering her distinct vocal style.

Life landed her in indie folk. Hart has toured respected venues across the USA, Northern Ireland, Ireland and more; she has also played NPR Live in studio on WNRN and WMOT. Her second release, EP, “Dark Matter” will be released in 2024, as always accompanied by long-time bandmate and collaborator Nick Rosen (other credits include: LP, Phantogram, Faye Webster, & more). Those who see her performing live will enjoy special previews of the music to come as well as already released and well-loved songs like “I Know a Gun” which has over 5 million listens and views between streaming platforms.
