My Tree , Walk Talk
MY TREE: My Tree is an eclectic musical collaboration that straddles the boundaries of R&B, indie rock, and jazz. When algorithms are decoding more music into homogeneous playlists, My Tree challenges this norm to bring music and people of disparate worlds together. Their latest release, Where The Grace Is (2021), is a “well-intentioned, slow-burn rumination on the gripes of American social and economical plight, brimming with bops bulked-up on heavy instrumentation” {Flood Magazine]. Their sound has been described as "Seductive, interstellar funk” [Okayplayer] and an “experimental blend of indie rock, jazz, funk, and dream pop” [The Deli Magazine] with “the perfect mix of skill and energy to keep you hooked from start to finish" [Earmilk]. Featuring acclaimed alto-saxophonist and flutist Caroline Davis in a different role as a vocalist, and keyboardist Ben Hoffmann, this collaboration features songs that seek to uplift, while at the same time pointing to the current challenges we face in the United States. My Tree is the soundtrack for the inevitable ushering in of the new world order.
WALK TALK: In an era where imitation is the rule of thumb, Walk Talk is staking their claim to the groovy avant-garde of post-pop panache. A delicious duet much-buzzed about in the Northeast, Walk Talk is born of the musical partnership of Mayteana Morales and David Bailis. The prolific pair of NYC-based multi-instrumentalists are well-acquainted, after nearly a decade deep touring the globe as former members of the critically-acclaimed future-funk outfit Pimps of Joytime. Morales also is a touring member of Durand Jones & the Indications.
Walk Talk identifies as a culmination of time, genre, travel, rhythm, and dance; manifesting love variations and soul vibrations through original songcraft and electrifying live performance. The longtime co-conspirators have re-emerged as an exciting new and dynamic duo; Walk Talk offers a fresh and inspired take on Soul, High-Life Afro-rhythms, quiet storm R&B, golden-era Hip-Hop, boogie Funk, and blissfully beyond. Morales and Bailis steadily unveil a creative canvas on which these passionate artists draw original soundscapes, rhythms, and sensualized harmonies, intoxicating elixirs that resonate deeply across a wide swath of demographics and genres
