As of June 16, 2021, New York State has lifted all COVID-19 related restrictions that apply to a venue of Rockwood’s size. In accordance with these revised guidelines, vaccination records will no longer be checked, nor will social distancing or masks be required, while masks will remain highly recommended for non-vaccinated individuals.
Matt Kent
Twenty Two year old vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Matt Kent is known for his sophisticated yet hooky sound that blends crossover R&B, Classical and Pop with a blend of organic instruments and minimalistic yet modern production techniques.
Matt Kent has quickly become a Tik Tok sensation with his unique series titled “Turning classical music into a pop song” converting classical music into original pop songs on the social media giant in late January 2021.
He’s racked up over 6 million total video views and 90 thousand followers in only 12 weeks to date. Matt began his musical journey on the piano at 5 years old and has never stopped since.
Matt began studying music fiercefully in 2013 on the violin and began taking lessons and practicing became a daily ritual. Violin has carried him into the music world and exposed him to all different types of music. Inspired by legendary artists such as Ella Fitzgerald and Stevie Wonder, but also by more modern artists such as Jazmine Sullivan, Finneas and Michael Buble. It's with this inspiration that he began to write his own songs and perform in NYC.
Since he began songwriting in 2015, he’s had opportunities to perform in showcases at legendary venues across NYC such as, the Bitter end, Mercury Lounge, and Pianos. Matt was invited to the “Coffee Music Project NYC” in 2019 where he became a finalist and caught the attention of established music producer Dante Lattanzi who signed Kent to his management company and the two have been working together ever since.
