Matt Wifen

Matt is a New York tri-State based singer/songwriter/performer who was born and raised in England. He draws influences from pre and post war American roots and Country Blues across the Delta, Piedmont, Hill Country and Chicago Blues styles. He is active in the Brooklyn & New York City music scene performing regularly as a solo, duo or trio act.

Moving to the U.S many years ago gave Matt the opportunity to travel the country extensively, immersing himself in American Music history and culture. These travel inspired numerous songs from real-life experiences. Matt writes authentic melodies and lyrics reminiscent of the great delta blues, country and bluegrass artists of yesteryear. His 'old-soul' approach is a refreshing return to American roots and Blues music.

Matt is an accomplished acoustic, slide and twelve string acoustic guitar player. You will hear the influence of American heavyweights Blind Blake, Big Bill Broonzy, Son House, Blind Willie McTell, Memphis Minnie, Robert Johnson and many others of the American Songbook.
