Mike Maimone

Mike Maimone is a piano-playing singer/songwriter in the style of Leon Russell, Randy Newman, and Tom Waits. His music has been featured in film and TV, he has performed on late night shows and at festivals including Lollapalooza, and famed venues from Hammerstein Ballroom in New York to the Fillmore in San Francisco. This show is a tribute to his late husband, Howard Bragman, who passed away earlier this year.

Bragman was known as the "Gay Guru" for helping guide celebrities out of the closet. He also assisted less-publicized cases defending LGBTQ+ individuals and causes. His work has been recognized with honors from GLAAD and AIDS Project Los Angeles.

When the two met, Maimone had transitioned into co-writing for other artists, but Bragman renewed his faith in his own voice and artistry. In his final act of love and support, Bragman insisted that Maimone close his memorial with a rendition of "The Best," following a performance with music icon Stevie Wonder.

Maimone has just put out a touching album of covers that were meaningful throughout their relationship. He will play selections from the release, as well as original material. All proceeds will be donated to the Trevor Project.
