Nick Africano
A son of the moon. A butterfly bull. A true aritst and creator. Nick Africano is part singer-songwriter, part poet, multi-intrumentalist, band-leader, solo performer, experimenter with watercolors, and actor.
Born in Central, Illinois to artist parents, Nick grew up surrounded by their work and passion…and also surrounded by cornfields and baseball.
He now lives in Brooklyn, NY.
His style defies the confines of genre, combining the best of folk, storytelling, soul, and rock and roll. Lyrics often softly spoken, or soulfully crooned, Africano is at once powerful and subtle. His live performances are captivating and spontaneous, moving between acoustic guitar, resonator guitar, and piano.
Africano has toured the US and EU extensively, and performed with artists such as Pokey Lafarge, Jeffrey Foucault, Sonya Kitchell, Misty Boyce, Will Hogue, Liam Finn, Nicole Atkins, and others.
Over the past years he has recorded 3 independently produced LPs including I’ve Ever Desired (2008) The Butterfly Bull (2012) and his latest record, If Timing Were Of Different Course And Fire (2014) recorded at Galuminum Foil Studio in Brooklyn, NY.
In 2012 Africano’s songs were included in the film, Four Corners Road, which was featured in the Manhattan Film Festival and the Hoboken Film Festival. In 2015 his song, “Forever,” was included in the motion picutre SOUTHBOUND.
In 2013 Africano worked as Musical Director for Les Foules’ production of William Shakespeare’s Cymbeline in London, England. where he also made his acting debut.
Nick’s work as a producer most recently includes the album Way Back Home (2014) by Sara Syms (Nashville, TN)
Nick is currently working on a collection of new songs and believes that drinking sherry makes you live longer.
