Notbrian

Notbrian is the recording project of NYC-based Brian DeSousa, weaving alternative and DIY influences into a rock-rooted sound that melds genres and tells stories. DeSousa began producing music in the end of 2017, introduced to the art by a college friend in the context of GarageBand and beatmaking. Inspired in method by soloists like Tame Impala, King Krule, and Mac DeMarco, as well as artists crossing popular genre boundaries such as Tyler, The Creator, Mac Miller, and Frank Ocean, Brian gradually began to pick up a multitude of instruments that would enter his own process as a producer and soon after as a solo musician. 2023 marked the release of a first full-length effort in Post Credits Scene, where DeSousa expanded on his progression toward being a vocalist on his own productions, in this case with a particularly post-punk and lofi flavor. Additionally, he along with two friends joined to form Never Home, an alt-rock outfit recording and playing shows in the New York City area at a venue near you.
