October 27th, 2022 8:30pm Stage 3
Pamela Laws is a singer-songwriter and composer who has teamed up with long-time collaborator, Jack Petruzzelli (Patti Smith, Rufus Wainwright, Joan Osborne) and co-writer Adam Bernstein. The team has created an alchemical trove of new songs that go far beyond the rock, jazz, and country influences existing between them. Weaving in Pamela’s Texas and California Americana roots, Petruzzelli’s powerful, sometimes orchestral guitars, and Adam Bernstein’s upright bass plucked and bowed, this music transports.
Pamela was born in Houston, Texas and raised in San Francisco. Before signing with Warner Brothers and Warner Chappell, Pamela sang background vocals for Counting Crows. After 2 major label releases, Pamela had a role in a WB film called Mad City, played a folk singer and sang the theme song written by Lou Reed called “ Is Anybody Listening?”
With four studio albums under her belt, Pamela Laws takes the stage again as her latest single, Man In Black, is released and an EP and new album are on the way.
Interview Magazine says, “Lucky for New Yorkers, she’s the real thing. Laws blends her experiences with pop, jazz, rock and folk. … her tiny speaking voice belies the big belting, sometimes booming onstage sound and persona.”
