NO COVERSHARE

Rob McMahon

Rob McMahon is a storyteller with an old soul and an awakened heart. A singer-songwriter from the Hudson Valley whose writing evokes comparisons to John Prine, Woody Guthrie, and Bob Dylan, but whose vocal tone is more reminiscent of James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, and Gregory Alan Isokov, Rob’s music immerses audiences in enchanting tales of destination, perspective, and local folklore. Riding atop melodies that stay in the mind for days on end, Rob leads listeners on a journey of intrigue each time he plays, and they may find themselves traveling along with him through space and time as they clearly picture each aspect of his poetic storytelling in motion. Feel-good in sound and seemingly lighthearted, his soulful and soothing performances open doors to deep reflection and inspire audiences to think, relax, and, ultimately, go on to tell their own stories.

Rob is a certified teacher of qigong and yoga, has studied energy healing techniques with shamans in Peru and Ireland, and has spent much of his life working with marginalized groups including combat veterans, people in substance abuse recovery, and students who languish in the traditional educational model. These life experiences influence his sensitive writing at every turn and contribute to the rich layers of Americana that are present in all his songs. Freshly returned from playing showcases at the North East Regional Folk Alliance conference in Asbury Park, NJ, Rob is currently shopping for a producer to partner with on his official debut LP. He's also working on a new collection of songs that explores true-life American tragedy, while continuing to bring his unique musical-medicine show, Shores of the Heart, to both performance and healing venues across the country.
