Šara Stranovsky

Šara's is a vocalist, dancer, and songwriter with a PhD. Her experiences across several kinds of stages and artistic mediums make her a quadruple threat--songwriting, singing, dancing (aerial and "ground"), acting and more. She grew up on both the dance floor and musical stages, and draws from her experiences living with artists in Brazil, Senegal, France, Cabo Verde, and various parts of the US. Her musical inspirations are simple folk songs, French cafe music, and bluesy melodic bends. She currently sings in the NY-based event band, HIP CONTROL, and performs as an independent artist.

Recent collaborations include performing as a dancer/actor/musician in the Off Broadway show, FUERZA BRUTA, singing in Anais Mitchel's HADESTOWN in California, songwriting/singing/dancing in TWOFOLD by ONLY CHILD AERIAL THEATER, performing in the BERLIN ELECTRIC at the Park Avenue Armory, dancing with RAIZ DI POLON Dance Company in Cape Verde, and leading Los Angeles based blues-rock band called, POCKET JONES. Past collaborations include funk-soul bands SIMPLE LOVERS,  BAAT SEN FUNE hip hop group (Senegal), and BATUCLADA (LA, Brazil).

This is her New York debut of her own folk-blues song set, and a celebration of her birthday.
