This live performance showcase, presented by the Society of Composers & Lyricists in New York and SESAC, will feature songwriters working in various genres, including musical theater, pop, and indie music. The intimate space at Rockwood Music Hall will offer opportunities for songwriter-to-songwriter presentations and discussions of songwriting craft, placement opportunities, and the challenges of the music business.

SONGWRITER PANELISTS

Justin Halpin & Jeffrey James are established singer/songwriters based in Nashville, TN. They’ve had numerous songs cut by artists and DJ’s in Europe, Australia and the US. The pair are responsible for writing or collaborating on songs featured in 150+ film, television and trailer placements on outlets including Showtime, HBO, Netflix, Hulu, as well as cable and all major television networks. In 2018 the pair began work on the music and lyrics for a new musical, DERAILED, which is planning its first staged production for the spring of 2020.

Travis Nilan was raised in Jersey, refined in New York, and now sunbathing in LA. Nilan is an award-winning singer/songwriter whose music and voice can be heard in feature films (Tina Fey & Amy Poehler's SISTERS), national commercials (a Skittles-infused duet with Steven Tyler), and the occasional off-Broadway musical. A recipient of the Songwriters Hall of Fame Abe Olman Scholarship, Travis is also part of the Eastside Punks production team and works with a variety of artists and brands.

Syd Silvair is a singer-songwriter based in NYC, whose original music has been featured on NBC, MTV, Bravo, ESPN, FOX, and Freeform. Her cover of "Running on Sunshine" closed out the season 11 finale of GREY'S ANATOMY. This fall, she was featured as a writer and vocalist on Syn Cole's "Cool With That," which was released on STMPD records, and added to Spotify's New Music Friday playlist. In addition to frequent collaborations with artists and writers across a broad range of genres, Syd is preparing to release the debut EP for her new artist project, which will be out this spring on Foundation Music's records division.

MODERATOR

A native New Yorker, Elizabeth Rose hails from a family of session musicians, composers and arrangers. Her songs have been featured in TV, film and on stage. RELATIVE PITCH, her one-woman musical comedy, was produced by the Cherry Lane Theatre’s Mentor Program. Her memoir, YO MIZ! won 3 national awards. She serves on the SCL in NY's Steering Committee, and its Board. She sang the National Anthem for “her” NY Mets, toured with the cast of BEATLEMANIA, and hosted MOSAIC on ETV. Her new musical is in development.
