Tanbark, JR Atkins, & Lowpines

February 27th, 2023 8pm   Stage 2

Indie folk duo Tanbark began with a road trip from Minneapolis to California, and landed in the thriving Brooklyn music scene in 2014. After releasing their debut album, "Write Soon," they enlisted engineer and musician Sam Owens (Cass McCombs, Sam Evian) to help bring their second album to life. The resulting nine songs explore themes of innocence and desire against a Laurel Canyon backdrop of pianos and guitars. Tanbark released their self-titled sophomore album in 2019 and are releasing a forthcoming EP in 2023.

JR Atkins

JR Atkins continues in the tradition of the American singer-songwriter, delivering songs of living and loss with unfiltered joy and abandon. Combining elements of country, blues, and folk with soulful vocals and powerful arrangements, his music earns comparisons to the troubadours of today (Jason Isbell, Blake Mills) and yesterday (Warren Zevon, The Band). JR is known for his earnest, emotionally charged live performances.
