The Buck and a Quarter Quartet
So, here's our deal...
We’re the Brooklyn- and Manhattan-based quartet and a quarter that plays the forgotten gems of the golden age of American pop, as well as favorites and vintage-inspired originals in our own category-defying style, described as "skiffle meets Cole Porter" and "what kind of music IS this?" We combine vintage pop, western swing, traditional jazz and even waltzes and tangos together, mostly on strings.
The Buck And A Quarter Quartet has appeared at great clubs and venues throughout New York City, including Joe’s Pub, Superfine, Jalopy Tavern, The Montauk Club, The Knickerbocker Hotel, the Cambria Hotel Roof, and more. We appear regularly at Pete’s Candy Store, Rockwood Music Hall, and Jalopy Theatre, and have monthly residencies at KGB Bar’s Red Room and SISTERS Bklyn that have run for the last four years. We’ve also had long-term residencies at Freddy’s Bar and Jimmy’s No. 43.
You never know who’s going to show up at our gigs, and we have great regular guests including Arnt Arntzen, Kat Edmonson, Stéphane Séva, Adam Brisbin, David Ostwald, Joshua Dunn, Evan Arntzen, Mara Kaye, Bria Skonberg, Jim Fryer, Gabe Terracciano, Cait Jones, Miss Maybell, Charlie Judkins, Joanna Sternberg and Sean Cronin.
