The Uptown Party Down

WEBSITE

The Uptown Party Down is a 9-piece powerhouse funk band from New York City, performing original music since 2011. Blending catchy hooks, combustible grooves, and unpredictable improvisation, UPD "has everything that would inspire its audience to throw down funky dance moves." Charged.fm

Their long-awaited debut studio album, "Thump Thump," is every bit exciting as it is funky. Recorded at The Bunker in Brooklyn, and mixed by John Davis, this tightly-knit group plays authentic originals with sharp horn arrangements and wildly impressive solos, all while supporting the effortless vocals of Rachel Madison.

UPD celebrates the release of "Thump Thump" with this free show in conjunction with the City Artist Corps Grants program, established to produce live shows and engagements after COVID-19's impact on artists and venues. The CACG program is presented by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), with support from the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) as well as Queens Theatre.

"Thump Thump" will be released on streaming platforms October 29th, 2021.
