The Uptown Party Down

The Uptown Party Down is a 9-piece powerhouse funk band from New York City, performing original music since 2011. Blending catchy hooks, combustible grooves, and unpredictable improvisation, UPD "has everything that would inspire its audience to throw down funky dance moves."

With the release of their long-awaited debut studio album, Thump Thump promises to inspire a new genre - powerfunk - with its explosive energy. A masterful mix brings the listener directly into the room as this tight-knit group plays authentic originals with sharp arrangements and wildly impressive solos, all while supporting the effortlessly exceptional singing of Rachel Madison.

UPD celebrates the release of Thump Thump with this FREE show in conjunction with the City Artist Corps Grants program. Recognizing the album's potential, the program awarded UPD funding in an effort to produce live shows and engagements after COVID-19's impact on artists and venues. The CACG program is presented by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), with support from the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) as well as Queens Theatre.

Thump Thump will be released on streaming platforms October 29th, 2021.
