Water Weight

Water Weight is the solo project of New York-based drummer and songwriter Willis Mathewson. In late 2021, after recruiting a number of longtime collaborators for recording sessions, Water Weight released the EP "Deco Swamp," a grim but groovy vision of NYC flooded by rising sea levels. New music is coming out in mid-2022.

Inspired by the pantheon of singing drummers -- Levon Helm, Anderson .Paak, Karen Carpenter -- Water Weight incorporates theatricality and improvisation for a singular live show with a full band.
