Yogev Shetrit

Yogev Shetrit was born in 1978. A professional Israeli drummer, performer and composer.

In 2015, Shetrit established his band, with the goal of playing his own compositions.

In February 2016, Shetrit recorded his first studio album as a bandleader and composer.

The album, titled "New Path", was launched in September 2016 and since then the Yogev Shetrit Trio has performed across Israel and all over the world. A second live recording Album titled “AS IS!” has been recorded at Jazz Globus Fest. in Jerusalem on March 2019.

In March 2017, the trio played at the Intl. Jazz Fest in Guatemala, including two concerts and four workshops. The trio was selected to represent Israel at the Kazakhstan Expo in July 2017. In September 2017, the Shetrit trio represented Israel on a tour in India at the 7th Intl. Delhi Jazz Fest, at the District Library Auditorium, Guwahati, a concert and workshop at the Aizawl 1st Intl. Jazz Fest. and in Shillong at the U Soso Tham Auditorium. In December 2017, the trio performed at the Intl. Jerusalem Jazz Fest. In January 2018, the trio represented Israel on a tour in Miami, with two concerts, at the “La Chat Noir” and at the “Black Box”, including a workshop at the F.I.Univ. Later on, they performed at the Intl. Panama Jazz Fest, playing four concerts and two workshops. In addition, they performed in Costa Rica with two concerts and three workshops at several Universities. In February 2018, they performed at the Intl. Red Sea Jazz Fest, Eilat, Israel. In March 2018 the trio performed at the Bishkek Jazz Fest in Kyrgyzstan and at the Almaty Jazz Fest in Kazakhstan. In April 2018, the trio represented Israel at the Tashkent Jazz Fest in Uzbekistan. In December they represented Israel in Moscow at IGIMO and at the Igor Butman Jazz Club. During the January 2019 tour, they performed at clubs in NY, and later on, represented Israel at the PAPJAZZ Fest in Haiti. In addition, they performed in New Mexico at the Placitas & NM Jazz including workshops at the JCC. At the June 2019 Tour in The U.S.A, the trio performed at The Kennedy Center, Washington, DC, at the “Jazz Showcase” club in Chicago, The Twin Cities Jazz Festival, Minnesota and at the Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater, New Mexico.

The albums “New Path” and “Serenity” contains instrumental pieces composed, arranged and produced by Shetrit, who plays drums and percussion. He elegantly fuses traditional North African music, Gnawa, Andalusian music from his Moroccan heritage, along with contemporary jazz, Jewish and Mediterranean music. His funk and Drum & Bass influences are also evident on some of the tracks.

Shetrit is a founding member of Coolooloosh, funk and hip-hop band which received international exposure by extensive tours all over the world. The band has released three albums.

Shetrit also recorded and performed with many known artists including Chuchito Valdez, Arnie Lawrence,Tia Fuller, Paulo Morello, Kevin Mahogany and others. In addition, Shetrit plays as a freelance performer at various projects on a regular basis.
